Experimental study of the effectiveness of fixing forming and replacing prostheses of acquired defects in the maxillofacial region

Abstract

For the purpose of an objective study of the fixation of removable forming and replacing prostheses with classical fixation, and also fixation with mini dental implants (MDI), an experimental study was carried out using the modified technique of S.E. Zholudev, T.D. Mirsaev (2004). Removable prostheses were made, which were fixed on gypsum models without the use of mini dental implants, and also provided one, two and three mini dental implants were installed, respectively. The gypsum model with the prosthesis installed on it was fixed in a tripod, and then, with the gradual addition of metal weights to the reservoir specially fixed for the prosthesis, the weight of the load was determined, at which the prosthesis was detached from the prosthetic bed of the model. According to the formula, the strength of the retention of the prosthesis was calculated, and the results obtained were statistically processed. Reliable differences in the strength of retention of prostheses on models with established MDI in comparison with the model, using only anatomic retention (p<0,05) were revealed.
