Abstract
Reconstruction of the walls of the orbit after its damage is one of the most difficult tasks of surgery, due to the peculiarities of its structure. The aim of the work is to evaluate the effectiveness of using customized implants manufactured using digital technologies to solve this problem. An analysis of the literature on the databases of RSCI, Medline (PubMed), Google Scholar was carried out. Search terms reflecting the concepts of “orbital fractures”, “patient-specific orbital implants”, “reconstruction of the orbital walls”, “enophthalmos”, “hypophthalmos”, “diplopia”, “individual implants”, “visualization of the orbital walls” were used. The data available in the literature prove that the use of patient-specific designs significantly increase the accuracy of implant positioning and shorten the duration of surgical intervention. Nevertheless, the risk of an inadequate arrangement of the structure remains, and therefore, various ways to eliminate it are proposed. The effect of the method on long-term treatment outcomes, compared with standard designs, has not been objectively confirmed. Currently, there is no reliable justification for the introduction of individualized orbit implants into widespread practice. Nevertheless, the available results indicate that the technology has serious clinical prospects, and therefore it is necessary to continue research in order to reduce its financial and time costs.Key words:
